Edit: OK, this isn't really an announcement, I posted it here in error. But as there's no really good fit anywhere else, I'll leave it here, if the moderator will let me. Wink

One of those only possibly useful things I have done is to put together a Blue Moon German to English translation. This is meant to cover just terms which have a special meaning in Blue Moon, though of course where to draw the line is a question. I thought I'd give it its first outing here - as this is where the people who are most likely to spot errors and omissions are. PLease do. What's it for? Well, that's why it's only possibly useful ... Incidentally the columns line up with a fixed spacing font. [Correction, they did, but this software strips out all multiple spaces - grrh. I've put in dashes, but the original is clearer. You can get it back, although with the extra dashes, if you quote it.] You'll also note that the comments are aimed at English speakers, but that doesn't make them immune from comment.

This is wrong. Instead, we have something like

gerade werte - even values
ungerade werte - odd values
aufgedruckte werte - printed values

And (beancounting-mode set to active Wink ):

Abwurfstapel - discard pile
Kampfbereich - combat area
Unterstützungsbereich - support area
verdoppeln - double

Excellent, thank you. A mixture of typos and real errors (one of which I want to track down how it happened). Any more - especially omissions (as well as the even/odd thing I missed)?

I think it's easier to break the phrases down. Am I correct that the base words are

aufgedruckt - printed
gerade - even
ungerade - odd

And now why do the Caterpillar cards use Stärke, which is usually power, rather than Wert (or Kampfwert) which is used for value?

And as for the subtlety if why aufgedruckt is used rather than gedruckt as my dictionary would suggest, I won't go there.

Do not always believe in dictionaries Wink "Gedruckt" is the usual German word, but "aufgedruckt" the one used in Blue Moon context.

I will have a closer look on your list the other day.

Excellent work!

In Blue Moon terms "auf den Kampfbeginn verzichten" is the same as "decline to start a fight". So i think that's correct.

Maybe in general, but as used in Blue Moon, for not starting a fight, the translation is decline. Or, rather, since the English was first, decline was translated as verzichten. I'll add a comment indicating that these are Blue Moon specific translations. In some cases I've put a parentheised comment for the more usual translation, I'll think about that in this case (and adding that comment).

Thanks.

Edit: Posted before I saw Geirröd's message. Thanks for that too.

Du darfst keine ... - You may not ...

Hyla - Hyla
Tutu - Tutu
Gegner - opponent
aktiv - active
Stärke ansagen - announce power

Thanks Ruwenzori. I'm inclined to pass on Geist, as I don't think it's fundamental, just part of a card name - and that's a can I'm not opening. But I did add Raupe/Caterpillar as well. The flavour text is in English background information, and that's exactly what it is in German too. I pulled out all twelve people names as unchanged rather than listing them. There's also a short (two people so far) acknowledgements that I missed adding before.

Or at least there will be all that stuff when I get round to uploading the update, I hope/plan this evening.
