Titel: Please welcome our new mod: Christopher Dearlove
I'm happy to announce that Chris Dearlove will host our English Blue Moon Forum from now on. Very Happy

I think you all know Christopher very well from boardgamegeek.com

Soon he will add some topics to extend the English section.

Hey super,
Hello Christover, it's nice that you'll Moderate the English Section.
Perhaps it'll get more People in there.

Chris, we are truly looking forward to have you participate/lead this forum section. I'm deeply convinced that there is enormous interest in BlueMoon outside of the German language geographies and anything that could help to further popularize the game is very much appreciated by all fans here. WELCOME !

Soon he will add some topics to extend the English section.

Well, he'll have to learn how to first.

I'm currently thinking about
- Strategy (that's a good suggestion from Xelethotiras - should it split, for example a separate section on Advanced Rule decks?)
- FAQ (as distinct from rules questions, this is where updates can be announced and people can point out errors and omissions and make suggestions)
- The Legend. A lot of work (especially by Reiner, Dave and Kevin) went into the legend, currently visible as a short piece of text and 180+ quotes on cards. It deserves some appreciation.
- Unofficial works. There are the Rhul and, as I understand it, Daria. But I'm afraid this one I'll abdicate as moderator from (if that can be done) as whilst I'm not quite as constrained as Reiner (there's an official Kosmos announcement he can't and won't look at such material) I also ought to avoid this. Don't assume I'll see anything here.

Anything else?

I am very interested in a section thea deals with the legend as i know quite a little about it. If there was spent such a lot of effort in working out the legend by the creators of blue moon, i would be glad to have some more informations about it.
Maybe there could also be a section on abvanced rule decks that treats special ideas or types of decks (discard, control over piles, etc.) rather than the usual distinction between tribes (do you say tribes in english?).

greetings, trumpetfish

by the way, Xel: a mod needs some dragons, IMHO he can't be Blue Moon Fan only.

I'd have no problem with taking the task of moderating the Daria threads. And I'd expect that Redi would be prepared to do the same for the Rhul....

The first step is to tease out the little hints scattered all over the cards. I could give you a hint as to at least one particularly significant one. But I won't spoil your fun.

Peoples.

I haven't figured out this dragon stuff. Of course if I wanted to play oneupmanship I'd ask for Blue Moon Playtester ... But I'm not fussy.

Hmmm... maybe you could give us at least a hint WHAT TO LOOK FOR ? Statements like this arouse our curiosity to a level that we can't withstand... Wink

I would suggest:
- Strategies (We could add "Advanced Rule decks" or similar later, if there is a demand on it)
- FAQ - You said "people can point out errors and omissions and make suggestions"... as you can see people can't reply to FAQ-Topics in the German section to avoid confusion. ( http://www.blue-moon-fans.com/viewforum.php?f=13 ) Suggestions are still made in the "Rules questions"-Topics´. I think FAQ should mean "Clarified questions" (Is that correct in English? Wink)
- The Legend - Can't wait for that... Very Happy
- Unofficial works - As Redimikanas & lachwurzn said, they are happy to host this section.

OK. Let's see.

You've got the basic story at the top of page 2 of the rules. First it's missing stuff like even mentioning the eight peoples, or the mutants, or ...
So you can look at cards like Vulca 01 to tell you about the Vulca. Many cards provide this sort of material. (You can argue whether Vulca 16 is one of these, or just flavour background.) And then there's the story filling in the gaps in the description - and beyond it. This tends to get stronger in later decks (especially those to come) but one of the last two decks so far has a couple of hints that will turn out to be important later. (By important, I mean important to the story, we're not talking about the game here.)

First easy step: how did the conflict start? (Hint, read cards in order). And why is the story told by that particular people?

Hoax can't fight. That's why they tell stories. Very Happy

Ok, now seriously. The conflict starts as a fight between Roland and Elinor in order to become king of blue moon city, or am I wrong?

Wrong? No. Is that the whole story? ???

(Well, actually I'm not sure if King is the title Princess Elinor would choose, but maybe she would.)

Xel, will you create these sections at some time now ? I have just finished translation of the complete Daria deck into English at this moment, but will wait with publication of the link to the downloadable cards until we have established the proper forum structure...

I think the story of the conflict begins, when Elinor and Roland were adopted by the King. This is a problem, since there is no official ranking of heritage any more. Also something like 'The Great Chain of Beings' (the British King's legitimation to rule) became broken, when the King died, because his adopted children are not his really offsprings (if there is something like that in the Blue Moon world...).

Ironically, having just agreed to do this, I'll actually be away from my usual base next week and may not be able to answer any questions. But I'll be back the week after, and will catch up then.
