The FAQ list is now updated taking into account that all the Pillar and Emissaries & Inquisitors: The Allies cards, and the Emissaries & Inquisitors rules are all available. (If you don't know where, it's in ther list!)
The plan is now to go back to occasional smaller updates as questions are asked (there's one outstanding). Even when the Aqua and Emissaries & Inquisitors: Blessings come out I don't expect such a major change, as we already have the rules for both. Up until then I don't intend to announce FAQ list changes (although I may refer to them when making other comments) so if you care, just check the link occasionally.
As ever, comments welcome (as long as they don't suggest too much work). Actually it's been rather quiet here, despite the major changes in the world of Blue Moon - most of the discussion in English has been on the BoardGameGeek.

Well, we've had more than 50 pages (i.e. something like 750 posts) of discussion in the German language part of the forum about the new cards within the last few days. If you consider this to be quiet...

Note the words "here" and "English".

It's been rather quiet around here recently, in English at least, so I don't imagine anyone will object to me mentioning that I've updated the FAQ list. I'd particularly recommend the first question in the (new, subdivided) Icons: REPLACE section.

Q: If you have an active Heat Haze [Vulca 25] ("You may not play
character/booster cards that have special power text.") can I play
Tutu WhizWhiz [Tutu 501, 1st E&I deck] ("I must discard one card from
my hand to play this card.")?
A: Yes you can. Although WhizWhiz has special power text, it is "I must"
special power text which over-rides Heat Haze's special power text
E&I rulesheet under Special Rule: 'Cards reading "I must..." take
precedence over all other instructions on the cards, including cards
that "ignore" instructions and cards reading "you may not...".'.
Of course you must still discard one card as well. |
Sorry, but this is WRONG!
Sebastian Rapp officially told the opposite (you cannot play Tutu cards if anything prevents you from playing cards with special power text).
You can find his official statement here (in German): http://www.blue-moon-fans.com/viewtopic.php?p=28590#28590
I think you can derive that from special rule no.1 in the rulebook, although the situation with Tutu is only similiar and not really covered by this special rule.

I agree with Kivas. If I could play WhizWhiz against an active Heat Haze, becuase its special function is of higher priority, then - with the same logic - I could also play any character with an "ignore" special text against an active Heat Haze, as also the "ignore" function is of higher priority than "you may not". This is definitely not the case.
Greetings, trumpetfish

There has obviously been a misunderstanding between - whoever ... I suppose Chris Dearlove will update the English FAQ-list soon.
Here's the text:

A: No you can not. Although WhizWhiz's "I must" special power text is
stronger than Heat Haze's special power text (E&I rule sheet under Special
Rule: 'Cards reading "I must..." take precedence over all other
instructions on the cards, including cards that "ignore" instructions and cards reading "you may not...".') it is not active until played, and hence WhizWhiz cannot be played.

Not quite 100% my fault, but mostly, and definitely not Sebastian's.

Yes (not uploaded yet, but in a few minutes). There will also be a question about Laughing Gas rather than Heat Haze where "I must" does dominate.
Thanks to KivasFajo for the catch, and to Sebastian.

Incidentally see the final answer too. There's also been a single typo change in the list since; thanks to a different Sebastian (Bleasdale) for that, but it doesn't quite rate a mention. I hope I haven't missed anyone from past input.
